Since pfsense doesn't use much resources, is there a good reason to go for high-end hardware? Just curious

I have a Netgate SG-3100 (End of Life) at home and was looking to get the fujitsu s920 and upgrade it with a mellanox 10g nic. Do u think this will have a better performance?

Since i can get around 300€ for the netgate device if i sell it and the complete cost of the fujitsu project would be around 60€

I believe the Gowin R86S-G3 can get his seat there if you make review on that!

diy beats all these 'tiers' - you save money and can expand more than these commercial options, opnsense has better drivers and better licensing - they want you to sell

You can always use USB-LAN adapter instead of relying on PCI-E ;)
