If they wanted to make the cost double, Then they should allow players to TRADE in cards for Wild Cards.

I just started playing arena and i really cant complain much. I have not spent 1 dime on the game yet im going to but at the time im pretty happy with the decks i have.

I find it funny that they’re trying to somehow make a different economy on mtg arena for standard and non-standard sets like they do in the real world.
No way in hell I’d pay as much on a arena for a box of modern horizons for example like in RL.
That being said, two wild cards for one card is still not so bad IF you can buy packs with gold and gems for the same price as any other pack.
That, I’d take as a compromise.
If you play a lot and buy one box of each set + the mastery tree, that’s more than enough.
I have almost every card that is in standard right now in Arena, doing so.
Still hope that they’ll make this double wild card cost go away, and quick!

Their tactic on the two wild cards for a card is their way of keeping players from abandoning standard to play the "historic format". If they made it cheaper or even the same value to obtain those cards then wotc feels players will migrate to that format hence lowering sells in the standard format.

The idea is people will save their wild cards for historic, and spend more money opening packs for standard sets.

I don't see a problem if wotc would make it possible to trade up or down on your wildcards... ie. 10 uncommons trades for 1 rare, 4 rare equal 1 mythic and also back the way like 1 mythic equal ls 40 uncommons. Would really go a long way to using up bulk wildcards to be able to get what you need to play.

Paying for anything on arena is stupid. Ive been around games long enough to know that when they get tired of draining u of ur money they will shut down the server and you will have nothing to show for it. As they make the next version for you to spend money on

If they want to make it truly historic they should bring back mana burn in that format

If it’s going to cost two WCs then they should lower the amount of packs it takes to get a WC. Right now its a little under $10 to get 1 WC. You want a play set of any rares or mythics they release and its $80($20 for a single), and depending on how many rares/mythics are in these releases it could potentially be quite overwhelming.(Rough estimations not including alternating WCs or WCs in packs)

I don't get why they want to create a new format when in theory they already have one that they are not using and it is free for them to utilize it with no extra work involved for them. You are a way more educated and knowledgeable player than me for sure. But outside of standard on arena you have a base of what six sets now that rotate? With 2 new stets per year added ( I think?). Every Magic you tuber is taking about rotation and the new cards. But if you don't play ranked and only play normal find a game you can use any cards that exist. That's what I play. It's more fun and a bit like a mini modern, growing steadily each new set. Why the fk they don't just use that I don't know. At least then they could add some classic stables to the game to make it more balanced and exciting. Call it what you like but it gives you guys more freedom to make your older classics deck techs better in the "mini modern " format as I call it and the same new standard as usual stuff. Its a win win. But 2 wilds per card is a pis take, unless every double you get from wild packs after you collect 4 off becomes a wild card. Maybe ? At the moment its fraud you pay for 8 cards but maybe only get 2 the other six disappear into thin air. That's fraud! Where I come from. If those copies transferred into wild cards then as I said maybe? What's your thought Joey old boy?
