AFTERBUZZ TV — UnREAL edition, is a weekly "after show" for fans of Lifetime's UnREAL. In this episode hosts Taylor Gates, Sam Davidson, and Lesley Powers break down episode 8.

ABOUT UNREAL:
Reality shows are often full of drama, but in the case of dating show "Everlasting," there may be more drama behind the scenes than there is in front of the camera. Executive producer Quinn commands her staff to get dramatic and outrageous footage for the show, which forces young producer Rachel to manipulate the relationships among the contestants to get the show's final cut to match Quinn's vision of it. As the show's featured singles look for their dream mates, staff members deal with their own romantic predicaments behind the scenes.

The reason Dr. Simon was on the show was because he used to work with high-powered clients (I think for one specific corporation), helping them overcome stress and get back to work. His last patient went postal and killed someone. I think he is a little obsessed with Rachel because he thinks she needs fixing and he would go as far as putting cameras in her "home" (trailer truck) in order to watch her.

There are so many loose ends in the show, I'm curious if they will deal with all of them in the 2-part finale, much less tie them up: Crystal and Chet, the big ceremony for Chet that Quinn agreed to help Crystal plan, will Quinn agree to testify for Chet so he can get his son back, will Dr. Simon do something even more drastic than spying on Rachel in order to help her, will Jay confront Rachel about Alexi (she didn't know about their relationship so I don't know how he could be mad at her about it), will Serena end up picking a guy, will we see more of Fiona playing a part in Quinn's life/career, what about that reporter that threatened to expose Everlasting and Quinn, and obviously Quinn has to take down Gary.

No I gotta say, when someone who is a liar, gaslighter, manipulator etc. confronts someone who inevitably has a lot of trauma from that person—especially when that person is saying all this stuff to them for the first time—the last thing a “normal, ” honest person would do is remain calm.

They would try to defend and explain themselves, as though the people they were talking to actually cared about the truth. In this case, Serena was just stating why she did this stuff he considered crazy when what he did was completely outrageous. Why would she remain chill and just be mildly irritated or know, without a doubt, and then calmly relate that he was a sociopathic liar?

This is why people almost always believe the abusers and liars who very easily make their victims look “crazy.” Those victims are responding extremely rationally and with emotions. Then the calm person who was the traumatizer looks “sane”. It’s just too bad that you believed him for the same reasons everyone believes manipulators and disbelieves the victims and justified this myth by claiming a real victim would have reacted in the way real victims never do in those circumstances…

I thought it was odd that the show didn't show the 1-on-1 for Serena and the fireman. I guess, since they gave him the spotlight last episode, the show thought it was okay not to show his session, but I had hoped to see a picture of his ex.

Loved the episode but can't believe it's almost the end!!!! Guess they're sweeping season 2 finale under the rug? Either way I'm glad Quinn stood up for Serena but to me it's confusing how she picks when she wants to be nice and when she wants to embarrass a child. As for Serena i don't see her with anyone although she deserves hapiness. Maybe the jockey will come back?!! Anyways it seems to me Rachel has been playing second to Quinn in story line so hoping she'll reak havoc in the end. She is off to a good start with screwing alexi. At first I thought she just went crazy but now I think it was on purpose. Sorry for random thoughts just a lot happened!
