What upgrades would you do to make this Pinarello great again?

An older rider who died or maybe his back or backside became so bad he could no longer ride? The added kit means he or his family is liquidating. The back story is probably very sad. By the way, you can tell the previous owner loved his bike and was not afraid to spend money upgrading it. He took very good care of his ride.

Decent little project bike, that. Obviously your renovation will have clicks and content in mind, but I would just drop the front end, stick some oil on the chain and pivots and enjoy it.

This was a great video on what to look for in a used bike. Ollie did a wonderful job in explaining what to look for in the way of wear and tear inspection points. Awesome!!

I bought a Trek 1500 slr last year for £260. I also got a track pump, Kask helmet, Specialized shoes, pedals and a bunch of other stuff too. I can only assume the seller was giving up cycling.

Thanks, Ollie, for putting used bikes like this in the spotlight--it is truly a wonderful reality that we cyclists can find and buy such bikes at great prices and it is all much like it used to be here in the States with used cars, you could find some real steals everywhere and that's why so many older people have all these vintage and valuable muscle cars and such. But getting back to your Pinarello, its original owner could've just reached for the sky with high-rise handlebars from an old Schwinn Sting-Ray. :)

I wouldn't do much to this bike at all!! It looks to be in good order. Needs some new pedals and Obviously fixing that steerer/ front end bodge. A new stem and bars (unless the bars suit). Maybe some ultegra levers & brakes to fill out the whole groupset, if the seat post is carbon fine, and a new seat. I think you can be happy with that.

This reminded me of what I was going to suggest as your next "which is faster?" challenge - an endurance road bike with all the spacers, ridden in the drops vs a slammed race bike, ridden in the hoods.

Completed The Etape Lochness on a Halfords parts bin special Hybrid with front suspension (WEIGHS 15 Kilos ) and managed to pass alot of clipped in racer dudes, enjoy the bike youve got.

I bought that exact model and colour frame new in 2015, built it up with an ultegra groupset and have been riding and racing it since. It rides and handles beautifully, still serves well as a training bike.

The previous owner likey had prostate issues or cancer. The split saddle and Uber upright position tells the story of 0 pressure on the peri area. I see bikes like that and think, ya man! do what you need to stay out on your bike!

That bike left the Pinarello factory in Taiwan (not Treviso, IT). Even then, only the very top F-series Pinarellos were produced in IT.

There's some great bargains to be had in the second market for older high spec bikes. If it was good enough for pro's 10 years ago it's certainly good enough for your amateur. Parts can be a concern but the higher spec bikes were well built an durable

Ollie, be nice. The previos owner obviously bought it, got injured, loved riding and tried to make it work and couldn't so got rid of all his cycling stuff because he wasn't going to be able to do it again. Kind of sad, but excellent deal.

Olie I have the same bike but the FP team edition! Great bike and fast even for modern-day standards! 2013 model! This example was owned by those people who cant bend their spine at all so you see from a distance a giraffe riding a road bike! As most of us try to go lower some try opposite!

I bought a $550 USD Pinarello about 15 years ago. Equipped with 9 speed Veloce and the most comfortable saddle I’ve ever ridden.
Brilliant bike, still have it still love it
