Oh I am just going to go broke. I love when you mention books, especially ones you have read...then I feel like I need them. :-)

I read Nightwatching by Tracy Sierra when it came out in February and I still think about this book. The audiobook is so well done. I think it’s extremely underrated. Deserves to be in the running for best debut of the year.

The best book I have read so far this year is The Women. It was an epic telling that kept me thinking about it when I finished it. I still do. It was my first Kristin Hannah book and it will not be my last. I have the Great Alone on my to read pile.

My favorite of the year right now, hands down, is “James” by Percival Everett. And you’ll love “The Great Alone” (my favorite K Hannah!)

LOL - I picked it, when you said you aren't a crier - I immediately thought of The Last Letter, knowing you'd read it, I too sobbed in parts of this one. It was my first Rebecca Yarros read too. I want to read The Things We Leave Unfinished next. My favorite reads so far this year ( cuz I can't pick just one ) was The Bookshop of Second Chances by Jackie Fraser, The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen by Syrie James and The Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly.

Wow! The detail of those sprayed edges is unreal! My favorites are books that I haven't stopped thinking about. Besides The Women, I'd put As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow and The Return of Ellie Black right up there.

1. BEST BOOK YOU'VE READ IN 2024

The Hidden Queen - Peter V Brett. He's a favourite author and it's a world I'm very invested in. The characters were fleshed out even further in this outing and the plot had me hooked all the way through

2. BEST SEQUEL OF 2024 SO FAR?

Same as Q1. I've not read a lot of sequels yet this year

3. NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET BUT WANT TO?

I have two and they're both autobiographies. Down with the System by Serj Tankian and The Man: Not your average girl by Becky Lynch

I'm a huge System of a Down and WWE fan so these two are high on my to read list

4. MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE OF THE SECOND HALF OF 2024

Fury of the Gods by John Gwynne. As good as Faithful and the Fallen was the Bloodsworn Saga is even better and I'm so excited to see how he wraps up the trilogy.

5. BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT?

Sunbringer by Hannah Kaner. I loved Godkiller so to be so down about book 2 hurt. It meandered along with no purpose and just felt like it was moving characters into position for the third book without having a plot of its own.

6. BIGGEST SURPRISE.

My Lovely Wife - Samantha Downing. I picked it up on a whim and flew through it in a matter of days. So clever and a well crafted thriller

7. FAVORITE NEW AUTHOR (DEBUT OR NEW TO YOU)?

James Logan - I'm very much looking forward to his second novel to see where he takes the story.

9. NEWEST FAVORITE CHARACTER(S)?

Princess Donut - Dungeon Crawler Carl. If you know then you know

10. BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY

None yet but given his track record I won't be surprised if John Gwynne destroys me emotionally

11. BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY

A Hat full of Sky - Terry Pratchett. It's a re-read but the Tiffany Aching novels from Discworld fill me with so much joy. Insightful, funny and pure happiness wrapped up in a book

12. MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU BOUGHT/RECEIVED THIS YEAR

The Silverblood Promise by James Logan. Simply stunning.

13. WHAT BOOK DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR

The Wheel of Osheim - Mark Lawrence. I'm really not a fan of Jalen so I need to finally finish the trilogy this year and decide whether I'm going to keep the books or just donate them.

My favorite so far A Court of Thorns and Roses Series by Sarah J Maas (I have one more book to go, A Court of Silver Flames). I finally started reading it and I am in love with Sarah J Maas, this is my first time reading any of her books. My favorite because when I am reading one of the books in the series, it is the only book I want to read. I normally read multiple books at the same time but not so when I am reading one of the books from A Court of Thorns and Roses Series. I am planning to read Throne of Glass Series next.

I can’t pick a favorite, I’ve read so many great books so far too, but I definitely give The Women my vote for most beautiful book. I love that cover!! Your copy of Funny Story is gorgeous 🧡💜💙 my most anticipated release is John Gwynne’s Fury of the Gods. I think its release date is October and I’ll be preordering it for sure.

The best book I’ve read so far this year is The Guncle by Steven Rowley.
A new release that I still need to read for this year is also funny story.
My biggest disappointment so far is divine rivals.
