David Jon Gilmour (Cambridge, United Kingdom, March 6, 1946) is a British musician, composer and multi-instrumentalist, known for having been the vocalist, guitarist and one of the composers of the progressive rock band Pink Floyd, which he joined shortly before Syd Barrett left in 1968. Along with his work in this band, Gilmour has collaborated on other publications as a producer and has been personally involved in charity events throughout his career. Gilmour is considered one of the best rock guitarists in history.
