If it's coming out holiday 2021, then it's DECK THE HALLS!

As someone that has always found the barrier to entry and time investment for PC a little high when I can play on my PlayStation and Xbox, this seems like a dream come true. It seems like playing on your couch on a high end TV--depending on what the docked output is--will be so appealing. Plus the IGN FAQ says full MOD support just like a PC. I'm very hopeful and hyped!

Dude just imagine running emulators and that bad boy.

The most exciting thing about this is that it seems that Steam OS and Proton have matured enough to make games run on a mobile console. A big driving factor for Windows are games, seeing Linux becoming an (free and open source even!) alternative for it is fantastic!

God, I've been waiting so long for something exactly like this. It looks incredible. Let's just hope it lives up to the promises.

The "deck" might be throwback to the Neuromancer books where all portable computers were called things like the "Ono-Sendai Deck"

I can't wait to play Counter-Strike on my Gabe Gear

Wow. I actually like the look. But the pricing options, that blew me away how cheap they are. But the deciding factor for me will be how well Civilization feels. If it feels good to play while I'm chilling on my couch I'm sold.

I'd rather get this than a switch.

The cool thing is this is just Valve's version. The platform is open to any other company to make their own version. I can see HP and Razer doing their own versions with different form-factors and button placement, etc.

The “PC” in Handheld Gaming PCs can’t be emphasized enough.

I suspect why so many people seem unfamiliar with what PCs can do is, because many are raised to really only understand smart phones and handheld consoles.

Pretty bold of Valve to make a Wii U GamePad with the versatility of the Atari VCS

In the recent wake of the OLED switch disappointing people Steam Deck steals the stage. Literally what people wanted out of the switch pro and MORE.

I've been waiting for something like this my whole life. The value of this thing is absurd. The entire PC library, Game Pass, and emulators. This is all in one gaming handheld and I am beyond excited, already secured my reservation.

-I personally love that it's reminicent of the Game Gear design and just overall looks really good.

-Everyone is going to call out the button/dpad placement - and that's fair. Going to wait to see how it feels in my hand before making any kind of judgement. The Switch lite is horribly cramped in my hands but initially looked like it would fit nice, so who knows?

-Fuck yeah four back buttons!

-It being massively versatile might be it's biggest strength. It would be funny as hell being able to smoothly run a Switch emulator on this.

-I hope this is just the beginning of seeing haptics on more controllers and use by devs.

-The more expensive options having an SSD is really, really nice. Anything to push load times down is great.

-Can't wait to hear how Kiwi's think about the steam dick.

I play my switch in handheld like 99% of the time so this is really tempting. The high placement of the buttons and sticks look a bit odd though.
