In this video we try out the AutoVox Solar 4 truly wire-free connection rearview camera.

We try it on the van and on a trailer and compare it to our wired camera.

You can purchase the AutoVox Solar 4 here and get 10% off by using the EXploreVan discount code.

A specific magnetic camera mount is available here: (we already had separate magnets we could use)

Great review thanks. Can you record on the unit?

Can you use the camera as a rear view camera, on permanently when driving, or is it just a reversing camera.
Thanks

Thanks for your review, this is one I'm considering. Nice improvisation on the mag mount :) - there is a Factory mag mount bracket available for it now. When you had the camera on the Boat Trailer at 6:04, did you put it in the water like this or did you remove it first? It says IP68 I believe so technically it should be OK to be submerged to 1.5m for 30 mins, and a typical trailer launch would be nowhere near to either of these limits; would be interested in your findings of how it worked practically in that location. Easy enough to remove it though when you're on the ramp and taking off the tie-down straps anyway back there. Also, when used to monitor the tow-ball for backing up to connect to the trailer hitch, did you feel it gave a good focus/angle of view for that? Those are exactly the applications I will use - mag mount at the hitch for initial alignment for hook-up and then move to the rear of boat trailer afterwards. I'll personally never use the solar panel, just the USB charger.

Great review. Any idea if any other AutoVox cameras can be paired with this system as the second camera or if it has to be another Solar 4 camera?

Saw u r video and making my mind but I keep u r opinion first I need to use it for my 26 feet straight truck . How is the range and how is the night vision on this camera . I don't want to loop with wires so need a honest opinion first before buying. I need it as a back up camera
