The full true story about Butch Cassidy, the Sundance Kid and the famous spiritualist Edgar Cayce. In the treasure hunt that went wrong in the Uinta Mountains while looking for the lost Rhoades mine This 1920 shootout over the Spanish treasure happened to the father of an old timer I once worked with. Here are the clues to a Spanish treasure located in Utah in the Uinta mountains.Edgar Cayce, spanish gold, wild bunch outlaws and a gun battle in the Uinta mountains. This story was told to me by the son of Amasa Davidson, Howard davidson. This video will share with you what Howard shared with me in the 1980's when I worked with him before he retired and later passed away from cancer. According to howard and his family the famous clairvoyant Edgar Cayce was involved in the search for this lost Rhoades mine and remnants of the old wild bunch outlaws including Butch Cassidy, the Sundance Kid, Mat Warner and many more. A gun battle broke out with many people dying on the mountain. I have not really spent much time looking for this Spanish mine and treasure, but I think this coming summer I may have time to do some searching. If you happen to go looking, good luck and If you happen to run into me stop and say hi.

My grandfather talked about caves with gold etc when I was YOUNG... ont thing he mentioned always stuck with me and the more I hear these stories, the more true it seems...
Every post of forestry or fire lookout, etc....always gold nearby. He said the fire towers had line of sight in any gold mines. How many times has someone mentioned a forestry dept close or an old fire tower nearby.

Great story Terry. I spent some years with Steve Shaffer. I enjoyed traveling to the Unitas, especially Hoyt peak and checking the bear hole. I sure miss him.

I've looked for this mine several times and read the several different accounts. The photos shown in this video and in some books really were taken from Mirror Lake, not Scout Lake. You can easily prove it by comparing Google Earth images to the old photos, which I think were taken on the 1952 trip not the 1920 trip. The old photos from Mirror Lake are up much closer to Bald Mountain than as shown in the photos from Scout Lake. You can even see (on Google Earth) the large rock at Mirror Lake that the man in the photo is standing on. Also, in the supposed 1920 photo showing the man (he says was Landreth), is wearing a suit! Why would Landreth wear a suit in the 1920's on horseback on a gold hunting expedition? I think the photos were taken on the 1952 search trip, with the suited man having driven there in a vehicle. The old cabin would have been at Scout Lake in 1952 when Davidson took the picture. According to the stories, Davidson took those photos on the 1920 trip, so he must have had a pre-1920's camera, which were quite large back then. Then, consider that Davidson took back a sizable sample of the gold that he had assayed. Tell me how he carried that bulky camera plus the gold ore all the way down that canyon, about 12-14 miles, in the dark, running on foot! Maybe he just took the negatives out of the camera? During the confusion of the big shootout? It doesn't add up.

There's another possibility. From their first camp at the Stillwater Fork, they followed the directions up Stillwater Fork to where they turned left and went up the mountain to a little lake called Schow Lake. Hmmm. Sound familiar? They found an old cabin, and from there, in the morning, they searched and later had the shootout. The run down the mountain at night would have been much shorter and more logical than from Scout Lake, especially if he didn't have to carry a bulky camera.

After 32 years of not going to the shootout location, it would be quite difficult to go back to the same spot. But after a lot of searching, he takes pictures with his new 1952 camera and then later in the 1980's his family confuses those photos into thinking they were taken in 1920.

These are just my ideas...
