I love how everyone fails to notice that Lightning power pin is ridiculously exposed next to the ground. The other day I had a USB - Lightning charghing cable plugged into the PC with the Lightning port resting on the desk and it touched something metal. That caused a short-circuit on the USB and tripped the PC breaker, thankfully without damaging the PC.
How did this Lightning port pass FCC approval? There is a reason why most connectors with power source are female or have recessed pins. Imagine an outlet extender had a plug instead of a socket ...

Based on my personal experience, I have to respectfully disagree with your assessment of the port durability. I've owned both Android and iPhone devices, with the majority of my life spent using Android. However, I've been using an iPhone for just about a year now, and I've noticed a significant difference in the durability of the ports and how they're constructed.

Inside the USB-C port, there's a male connector in the center that's quite small and thin. This design not only makes cleaning challenging but also increases the risk of damaging that male connector. Additionally, the USB-C port seems to be more susceptible to damage from moisture. I've observed that many USB-C cables tend to become loose over time, and they can break easily, especially if you're using your phone while it's charging. This is also true for other devices like gaming headsets. For instance, both my gaming headset and my Asus Rog 2 utilize USB-C. I've tried three different cables, including the Asus charger which is USB-C to USB-C, and they all seem to have this issue. Upon closer inspection, the male connector appears scratched, and the female port seems to have expanded slightly, causing a looser fit. I've had to adjust the cable slightly to ensure a secure connection. Moreover, the ASUS power plug where I insert the USB-C has a loose connection.

In contrast, I've had none of these issues with the Lightning cable. It's easier to clean, offers a solid connection, and since the male connector is part of the cable and not the device, if it breaks, you can simply replace the cable. If the male connector on a USB-C breaks, you'd have to replace the entire port. I've yet to experience a loose connection with the Lightning cable, whereas my USB-C cables (which weren't cheap by any means) started showing issues after just a year. So, based on my personal experiences, I can't say that USB-C is superior or even on par with the Lightning cable in terms of durability and reliability.

Apple just need to make the lightning metal strips a little bigger it would ten times be better.

One thing about the center peice of the usbc, it doesn't break, but it does stop many small things from getting stuck where lightning wouldnt

They need a cord that connects like the MacBook power supply with a magnet. The phone will probably be more waterproof and probably less likely you break a connection port.

I love Micro-USB for 1 reason... tt'ds tiny so if size is a factor and speed is not Micro USB all day.

USB-C is faster, but heard rumor they are only switching to it due to laws. USB-C on apple most likely won't be speedy like it is on Android. Rumor I heard. So this guy needs not get so excited.

I can't keep any damn cord straight anymore. I'm sick of it. Glad it's changed now.

I don't like usb c. It doesn't magnetically connect, it builds up dirt in the socket and that Gap....

It never works properly, I have to clean it with a little pick.

Lightning works perfectly. If it's a little slower, I've never noticed.

Tbh I just think USB-C could be better if it was smaller, like having a Micro USB-C and have the micro size of Micro USB for it, plus make the data speeds easier instead of this unnecessary weird combo of USB 3.1 or 3.2 Gen 1 or 2. I still prefer Lightning (as well as Micro USB and the original USB-A as they still hold up well for their own purposes) because they’re great for the Apple ecosystem and it’s easier to use across all Apple devices whereas USB-C is complicated with either being made for power, data, or other purposes instead of being all in one. Plus, this planet would be polluted with USB-C cables when most people would fail to recycle them and it’ll be harmful imho. I don’t want my cabinets and storage to be filled with hundreds of USB-C cables being left untouched because I bought so many devices that come included with these cables and they will be harmful as junk. I think USB-C still needs some improvement if we have smaller versions, better data and power capabilities, and make them very eco friendly.

USB C is better than Micro USB, but Lightning is what USB C should have been in terms of the connection design.

Pins are all securely mounted to a surface. USB C has a tongue that can be jammed, and the hole is bigger so it's likely to get dust in it. I always blow out my USB C connectors in case it gets the issue where you can't even connect the phone anymore due to pushing dust down into the port (this has happened and I've had to clean it out for a user).

Apple gave up on lightning, but fanboys are still defending

As an Android fan and someone who likes standards being enforced so we use less stuff for more things. I fully understand that lightning is far superior to USB C. It's smaller and more durable. If USB C was inverted and be like Lightning it would be better.

Lightning is a lot more durable than USB C.
