This is great, I love how you cropped the code to just fit in a square in the middle of the screen, how easy your example was, and how thorough your explanation was. I definitely learned something because I was previously using a useEffect with setTimeout to previously make an animation, and did not understand why the animation was not smooth. Now I know it was running on the JS thread.
