More concretely
>turns out optimizing in them is best(the second Order Taylor term is a quadratic form!)

>the Gold sequences (used in e.g. GPS-navigation to track changes to the distance of one of the satellites) can be viewed and analyzed using the fact they are gotten by evaluating certain quadratic forms (depending on the id-number of the satellite) defined on a 10-dimensional space over the field of two elements

>Rokhlin Theorem

Apparently the notes by Professor Hopkins of Harvard should help!

Quadratic forms occupy a central place in various branches of mathematics, including number theory, linear algebra, group theory (orthogonal group), differential geometry (Riemannian metric), differential topology (intersection forms of four-manifolds), and Lie theory (the Killing form).

Hi Sir,

I have a serious problem with quadratic forms in regard to their being part of Linear Algebra.

A linear equation is defined as multivariable function with no other exponents than 1.
Is it because of the symmetric matrices?

It simply does not feel correct for me from a theoretical point of view.

I really would appreciate a good answer to this ridfke.

Thank you!
Andrew
