In this MAKO Spearguns video we'll demonstrate a couple techniques to defog your freediving mask and also share a few tips on cleaning it as well.

Did you know that during the manufacturing process, a silicon gas residue is produced and it sticks to the inside of the tempered glass lens in your dive mask?

You may not even notice it until you get in the water, but you'll likely be fighting a freediving mask that always fogs up on you if you don't remove it.

The key is to remove that silicon residue before you use the dive mask and in this video we'll cover two common techniques to remove the residue.

Thanks for watching!

The best, most concise, yet comprehensive/complete article/video/opinion I've read/seen/heard on the subject - and I've come across many! The definitive reference. Thanks ;)

Hi! Thanks for the video!
I burned the lenses on the outside too (very quickly), would that be a problem? It was fogging on the outside and that's why I did it.

Can I use this method with a panoramic scuba mask?

Yes. You can even redo it over time as needed.

Can you use the lighter if you've already used your mask?

Hi! I tried using the lighter technique on my new free diving mask, but the right lens developed three dark spots. I simply wiped it off, and it as fine, but does this mean i burned the lens or potentially ruined its tempering?
