The general rule is that one cannot expect privacy while in a public space.
That alone is enough for me to pan my camera across landscapes and crowds and set my cameras to shoot time lapses without inconveniencing the citizenry.
However, I had my fair share of run-in's with cops and government workers who choose to protest while I film in the public to which I say, this isn't your home and they usually walk away with their tail between the legs.

If there is no law prohibiting does not means it's a welcome move. So a person creating a ruckus is also protecting his privacy despite of no law present.

in America, their are freedom more than india. Photography is not a crime their in public. People in india still scare of been recorded. That's why we are still a 3rd world country. In public, their should not be any expectation of privacy, nor can any one take my camera for that. Their is no law against public photography, but in india their is no freedom for that, you will get harrased.
