Показать описание
The young people in China are increasingly defying the Communist Party. Among those born in the late 90s, half have already decided not to have children. In those born after the year 2000, there could be an astonishing 60-70% choosing not to have children. Among couples who registered their marriages last year, 40% do not intend to have children. As for the newborns last year, 40-45% were the second child of couples who already had one. As the post-2000 and post-2010 generations come of age, the low fertility level will be more pronounced, and the fertility rate could plummet.

Cost of living is too high, work demands are too high, wages are for the cost of living too low. That's not the problem of China alone, that's the problem of the whole world.

When animals are stressed and unhappy they will not breed. Ask any zookeeper. Why does the CCP think that we humans are any different?

Very true. I'm Chinese, and I'm not going to have any children.
Life is too painful. I don't want to make innocent children to suffer.

If governments want citizens to have children, those governments need to make the society worthy of those children.

In nature stressed animals never get pregnant. This is not much different.

No government seems to listen to the youth! If we can’t afford an apartment, or the expensive fees of raising kids then why would we bring a kid into the world to suffer? Why should the next generation suffer just for boomers to have more labor? Hell no

The younger generation has figured out that life is more pleasant if you avoid taking on unnecessary stress. It's the older generation that can't seem to accept change.

If you can't even afford a one room apartment why the hell should you make children? Its the same in alot of western countries tbh. Almost no place in the world you can buy a house nowadays except if you are a (multi) millionaire

Can you blame them?
It’s cruel to bring an innocent life into misery, endless poverty and hopelessness.

If I would have to work 996 when I was 20, I would had no time for dating or even the desire. I would be constantly tired.

well when you call women over 25 “leftovers” and expect them to marry old men… it’s really no surprise that many young women don’t seek out marriage or having families at all

for so many the same reason the birth rate is plummeting in Kora and Japan and so many places in the world . They've made parenting into a drudgery, all the joy of having kids has been sucked out. The 24-7 coaching them to excel at everything in order to be able to deal with the constant competition for a basic place in society. The cost of one kids is astronomical. Add to that the pressure of taking care of aging parents. The basic life is seen a unfulfilling. Once it becomes socially acceptable among your pears to have no kids, that's it.

Why perpetuate life in a framework that is corrupt, rigged and already sufficiently burdensome?

35 years of single children families! That means nobody knows what it’s like to have a brother or a sister! That’s just insane to me. What are the implications?

Understandable. When you live in a dystopian nightmare, why would you want to force an innocent child to experience the same nightmare - or an even worse version of it as things start to collapse

Those women know that they don't get paid for getting married or having children. Very poor economic trade-off compared to earning a steady income, enjoying freedom from house chores and saving for retirement.

I am from the US and I have a lot of respect for these young people. This is their rebellion against needless hard work. They work so hard for nothing and the CCP refuses to improve their lot in life. The officials of the CCP are so simple-minded. All they have to do is reduce working hours, make education less strict and make reforms to close the wealth gap and yet, they refuse to do so. Instead, they enacted a One-Child Policy without putting into consideration the long term consequences. China gave us some of the wisest people who ever lived, but clearly wisdom is an unwanted resource to the CCP.

And now China will understand the struggles of Shinzo Abe in Japan.
It's a downward spiral from there, because the youths will terminate their own life if you force them to have children, and you can't incentivize them enough to sustain marriage and having children unless the CCP themselves gave them enough money and resources. Immigrants would also devolve into not having children too, so it's a lose/lose battle there now.

For people who think this(choosing to have no babies) only happens in China: it's a trend we see in a lot of countries and it will only increase.
