The Highwaymen Highwayman lyrics
[Willie Nelson:]
I was a highwayman
Along the coach roads I did ride
With sword and pistol by my side
Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade
Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade
The bastards hung me in the spring of twenty-five
But I am still alive

[Kris Kristofferson:]
I was a sailor
I was born upon the tide
And with the sea I did abide
I sailed a schooner round the Horn to Mexico
I went aloft and furled the mainsail in a blow
And when the yards broke off they said that I got killed
But I am living still

[Waylon Jennings:]
I was a dam builder
Across the river deep and wide
Where steel and water did collide
A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado
I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below
They buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound
But I am still around
I'll always be around, and around and around and around and around...

[Johnny Cash:]
I'll fly a starship
Across the Universe divide
And when I reach the other side
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain
And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again...

This song was practically made for this group. It captures the magnitude of their individual legendary careers. Johnny cash being my favorite. He was so to say The Godfather of the outlaw movement with albums like “at Folsom prison”. He was light years ahead of the times and its fitting his part is the one who flies the starship light years away. He searches the universe for a place to rest his spirit but because of his legend and all their legends, they’ll continue to ride forever

One of my favorite versions, cuz the voices are distinct, and the sound is vibrant. This is the moment where all religions morph into one and we see we come from a mystery and return to that mystery, all of us joined in the same pilgrimage of souls, like individual raindrops to the sea and back to the sky again, so Christianity and Buddhism meet in the great singularity. Or just a simple but great country song, take your choice

i love Reggie Young and this play guitar, without him, this song would not sound as good without him and of course with his 4 good artists voices

O Salteador

Eu era um salteador
Pelas velhas estradas eu cavalguei

E com o mar eu me mantive

Eu escorreguei e caí no concreto molhado abaixo

Talvez eu me torne um salteador novamente
Ou eu serei simplesmente uma só gota de chuva
Mas eu vou remanescer
E eu voltarei de novo
E de novo e de novo e de novo e de novo

Hey When The Cowboy Sings, I wanted to listen to the wonderful 1992 Aberdeen Highwaymen Live Concert, but I can't seem to find it anymore.. :-(
Did you take it down maybe?

no song more expresses my own personal view . i was once asked what was my earliest memory. i thought and it came to me. i was in a room with pale green walls, light blue curtains, a wide plate glass window with adults looking in at me and a room full of other babies in cribs. and i thought; "well, here we go again." i knew exactly where i was and what was going on. and i met a truely gifted psychic once who told me about a deceased friend. she said this was the earliest and easiest death she has experienced. i asked just how old IS she? "oh, she's old. at least 2000 years. and you and she have been connected a half dozen times." and i took her seriously. everything else she said were things only the girl and i would have known. so we come back. again. and again . and again. and
