Nasty stuff. In order to survive in philadelphia you can't just live there and it isn't just as simple as having a gun for protection. You also need to train yourself to understand how crime patterns work and how or when crime can happen in the neighborhood where you live. I know crime is often unpredictable but if you are in the hood long enough you should not miss out on the chance to develope this ability. You can predict hotspots for crime to happen more than you may know.

I was there for 25 years or so and always had a handbook of rules in my mind to follow in order to survive the city. You definitely need a weapon to protect yourself but it goes way beyond that. I saw many great people die because although they had a fighting spirit. They did not invest time in the mental prep work to survive and had mindsets that were more reactive than proactive.
