What’s next in space exploration? This presentation will discuss how AI is poised to enable a new generation of robotic explorers that will allow us to visit previously inaccessible places in the Solar System and beyond and collectively provide a leap in expanding our understanding of the universe.
Dr. Marco Pavone is an associate professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Stanford University. Before joining Stanford, he was a Research Technologist within the Robotics Section at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. His main research interests are in the development of methodologies for the analysis, design, and control of autonomous systems, with an emphasis on self-driving cars, autonomous aerospace vehicles, and future mobility systems.
The 2021 Summer Session Speaker Series features the work of faculty from the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI). These experts highlight core AI technologies, policy and ethics, and the intersection of AI and the critical modes of human expression comprised of art and activism. Through the series, HAI and Summer Session seek to showcase the diverse ways that AI is impacting human experience, as well as some of the many ways that AI is explored across Stanford.
