On December 13th, United Airlines confirmed a firm order for a whopping 100 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, boosting its current order backlog to roughly 700 aircraft. Alongside the firm order for 100 aircraft, the US carrier has also placed 100 more options for additional 787s. The carrier's order could include all three aircraft models, the -8, -9, and -10.

The Dreamliner is an awesome bird, no doubt. But man, Boeing has a ton of orders for this aircraft. Going to be interesting to see how quickly they can clear the massive backlog. Stay tuned.

Lets hope Boeing can rise to the challenge and actually delivery them.

They have a lot of older airplanes. Many different types.
I'm sure they just want to standardize to fewer types to make operations easier.

The logical decision by United. You get a solid aircraft that employees are already trained on, and ordering so many of them gives you a bulk discount.

The B787 order is to replace the B767's and older B777-200's and the B737 MAX orders is to replace the B737-700 and older B737-800's.

Wonderful...the 787 is the most beautiful aircraft to date. UAL made the right decision.

Amazing to see such a clean, confident plan to put the best equipment possible in place. Airline evolution is usually in more fits and starts, but this one becomes the leader on so many levels. Great that United is putting that money into the US economy. $43bn is not pocket change, after all. I hope they go ahead with the A350 order, too.

Beautiful aircraft which looks great in the United Livery. Continental really had the best livery design, I am glad United kept it post merger with only minor changes.

Just because of the 787-8 I think as the 777, A330, and. 767 retired from service that small, medium, and low cost airlines will be likely to order more 787 because they don’t need the larger 777 or A350 and the 787 is really hot right now with passengers. The status symbol has changed from the largest planes running at a loss to being more carbon friendly and on board service and seating. I’m also guessing it will be another 20-30 years before a 767 sized aircraft will be made for less dense long haul travel.

A slew of new orders... would be nice to bring a 787 production line back to Everett, with all the vacant space available with the 747 stellar run, finally coming to a close .
Wishful thinking..!!!!
Highly doubtful though !!

Does it mean a cancelation of the a350 orders? Would be interesting to see their next move.

They are literally wanting to get rid of the 757s and 767s and 777s. Damn lol
