How do Touch screens work?

What the Science

Touchscreens have a sheet of glass having grid lines
Grid lines in one direction are called driving lines which provide a constant electric current
The lines in the perpendicular direction are called sensing lines, they detect the electric current
Electrostatic fields are created at the points where both these lines cross
This stage is registered as a neutral position in Smart phone’s processor
But when something conductive like our finger touches the screen
There is a disturbance created in this uniform field
The processor thus can interpret the pattern that you make on the screen

I will be posting one main full-length episode per month, the details of which will be always updated on the channel art\banner.
Thank you!

I used my metal pen but then also it didn’t work why? Metal being a good conductor should have served the purpose
