We brought rechargeable travel fans. Nice for not only carrying around on hot days in Italy, but priceless on a nightstand next to the bed in an AirBnB/Hotel without AC. We used them at our first stay in the Dolomites and they helped a lot despite their small size. Our second trip to the Dolomites we got AC. Not widely available, but there is some.
