There is no need to all of that; since A*B=0 means that A=0 or B=0, just make each term equals 0.

You also could have just set each bracket to zero and solved for each bracket separately i.e. x²-16 = 0, x²-10=0

Multiplication can be seen from this type of product, in general, to correspond to a logical “or”. Addition would be a logical “anding” ooeration

All fine & accurate of course, but given that one of the two starting terms had to equal 0, the 4 answers were fairly obvious without an assisting equation.

You can calculate the sum of the squares all of the time, all of the squares some of the time, but you cannot calculate all of the squares all of the time.

Why don’t we just say x^2-16=0 then x=+- 4 or x^2=10 then x=+-radical 10 ??
