PETITTI How to Make a Container Garden for the Shade

Contrary to popular belief, there are plenty of colorful options when it comes to shade gardening. You can add beautiful foliage color with Caladium and Coleus along with the showy blooms of Begonias and the whimsical Torenia (wishbone flower), just to name a few. Watch this video with Noelle, Horticulturist and Education Director with Petitti Garden Centers, to see just how easy it is to make a sunning, shade-loving container garden for your outdoor spaces. One thing to remember when planting your containers is to use potting soil as well as fertilizer. Although it tends to dry out faster, potting soil is a great, well-draining soil made of peat moss, perlite, and vermiculite. It’s important to add fertilizer to this mix because potting soil doesn’t contain a lot of nutrients for your plants to feed off of throughout the growing season. Check out Osmocote® for a great, long-lasting, slow-release fertilizer option.

potting soil absolutely has nutrients in it, at least most of the time...I would say to check whether your potting soil has nutrients

Great suggestions for the shade! Not to be critical but I wish your camera angle was closer to the pot when you plant. Thank you!

I'm always so suprised when I see gardening done in black pots.
Black pots get so hot even in partial sunlight. Other than that, your video is lovely.
