Welcome new subscribers! Lots of interest in this video, and there are many more like it on this channel. The follow up video (linked at the end) shows re-testing all the gemstones with a much better big-boy tester. I'm sure you'll enjoy that video just as much 💍

A good Tip i learned when i used to do this was i put on a ORANGE Reflective Vest, everyone thought i was contracted to clean the sidewalks and they wont think you're crazy haha

Nifty. I never did any hunts myself, but i bought your gold kit for my dad last year and watched him have fun in the backyard while visiting my family. Was fun to watch a 60 year old man play with dirt like he was 8 again.

Last month I randomly found one video of a guy that saved a lobster from the grocery store. Today I found one awesome dude who hunts treasure in the sidewalks of New York City. I love the internet :)

I think it’s cool what you are doing. Nobody should have an issue. You’re making the sidewalks look better at the same time

My great uncle was a NYC sewer inspector for 40yrs. He would call my grandmother back home and tell of all his latest finds. Lots of wedding rings, loose diamonds and one large diamond ring valued at $500k back in the 80s that he found under the Upper East Side

FYI: Rubies luminesce in Ultraviolet light, so you can pick them out pretty quick (and tell if they are real) with a quick flash of a UV light.

It’s amazing how much gold dust is in the carpets of jewelry stores. I use to work in the industry and we were constantly finding loose diamonds in the carpet. Scotch tape is the best to pick them up with.

Hi! Speaking as someone with quite an extensive knowledge of gemstones:
1. Those rubies aren’t for watches - they are faceted, and in such a way that they maximise carat weight. I am very familiar with this shape, it is generally considered a low quality cut, but probably means that the material is generally valuable.
2. While those white gems that aren’t diamonds, could be cz, it’s very possible they are white sapphire, a common alternative to diamond.
3. If you take these gems to a jeweller with any kind of gemology equipment they will be able to tell you exactly what each gem is, and I think it’s likely that not many are cz

Very cool video :)

If nobody has cleaned through those cracks, you literally found possibly years worth of gold dust and gems. It’s crazy to think people walk over precious material everyday without even knowing!

I'm a life-long NY'er, and always laughed at the saying our streets are lined with gold... Yet you just proved this statement wasn't a joke! We really do have gold on our streets! OMG! My mind is blown. (Edit) Due to our city being populated for such a long time, I imagine lost jewelry over the years contributed to this abundance!

That's how i like to look at life.
Treasures under everybody's eyes. Amid dust. Waiting.
Their destiny being to be lost.
We don't have the mind to look at them.
Your video is inspiring thank you.

I am a diamond setter and I work on 47th Street. Some of that platinum is definitely from me 😅 ... I have seen people with tweezers on the sidewalks. You have taken it to the next level!

As a New Yorker and knowing what people do on those sidewalks, that dirt has to be the nastiest shit ever 🤮

I go out at night rockhounding and treasure hunting as my son and I call it and I feel the same way like if people see me they will think I'm bananas crazy. It's just so exciting and fun that I don't care I have never found anything even close to what you are finding, what a great idea! I'm glad I found your channel!

The little rubys are called balance gems or jewel bearings. They are used in watches as pivots to reduce friction on rotating parts.

I’m addicted to these videos now. This is a harmless hobby and I’m interested in prospecting downtown Austin. Thank you!
