Today, we are going to talk about extensive reading, which is a technique to learn foreign languages, by reading and not “classical” studying. What I mean by that I’ll explain later. There is of course also another technique called intensive reading, which I won’t cover today, but in another video, which then in turn will be part of a miniseries about reading in foreign languages.

What do you think? Is extensive reader also an integral part of your learning routine? Thank you very much for watching!

Hi Dustin, great video! I love extensive reading and do about 1 hour to 90 minutes each day. I've already read the first five harry potter books in french and am currently reading Dune (my favourite book in English) trying to finish it before the new movie comes out has been this month's challenge. A great quote from Steven krashen that I always think of is "When the words and the language melt away and it's just you and the story, that's when language acquisition occurs". Keep up the great content and have a lovely week

I've always really struggled with not looking up words I don't know. It has made reading not fun and therefore I don't do it often enough
