DCS 'IS' ASCENDING - I HAD TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF MY FEELINGS ABOUT DCS - IT HELPED ME GREATLY!

Everyone, if you feel like you are trapped in a bad relationship...free yourself. I felt like many of you do at one point but I assumed ownership of those feelings and asked myself, what was I missing in my experience? Once I did, my perspective on the problem changed. It wasn't DCS, it was me.

I took a break from it, evaluated what I wanted from my "Digital Combat Simulator" experience, and it freed me of the pain and frustration I was creating by not making the mature choice of moving on, or finding what I did love about DCS. I decided to do something about it.

I got involved in the community, I started volunteering voice recordings for various campaigns. I hosted DCS giveaway products out of my own pocket and ED recognized that and presented AWG with more content to give away. I changed my attitude and volunteered for testing on such things as the South Atlantic Map and an upcoming Top Secret module that I hope to share with you all very soon.

To anyone who is feeling trapped in an abusive relationship with ED or DCS or RAZBAM, I urge you to rescue yourself, get somewhere safe. Stop abusing yourself with your emotions. A good first step is to stop trolling YouTube videos and forums to complain about something you can't control. There are a million other things to do on this planet in the short time we all have...and the first one on the list is to "be happy" if only for your own mental health. This is what I did, and it feels liberating! ~J

Personally I find there's so much you can do with DCS, getting involved is not hard in so many different ways.

I've truly loved the time I've spent with DCS. It helps being old enough to have some perspective about how far the combat flight sim genre has come from me playing Aces Over Europe as a kid. That said, ED really needs to do some serious work on rebuilding trust with the community if it is going to survive and thrive. The fact that so many creators make videos about avoiding burnout, managing expectations and dealing with toxicity is not a good sign.

I have to admit I just don’t understand a large segment of the dcs community anymore. Is DCS perfect? Absolutely not it has issues. But having started out of microprose f-117 and aces of the pacific what we have these days is so much better. And if they’re this unhappy why keep playing?

Couldn't agree more. In the end it is an extremely complex "GAME" that is constantly evolving. There are so many things that affect how DCS works, it is a wonder it is as good as it is. Multiple PC manufacturers and components, Track IR, multitude of VR manufacturers, 3rd party content, etc. Some people treat it as real life, some just want to fly and have fun. As with anything, this game has its ups and downs. Sometimes it does feel like a museum collection, ither times a lot of challange. Flying an F-16 in Kola on the ILS path into the fog, where the needles jump around and the glidescope is halfway the runway :)
I used to read the manuals from cover to cover, nowadays I am happy to get the time to fly around, haul some heli cargo or practice bombing.
The times will come back when I join the BVR play :)

Today, when I was setting up a mission, with the new weather effects on the Sinai map, and it was little showers of rain as well as the desert haze, and a rainbow appeared and dissapeared when the rain stopped, I've never seen that effect before.. DCS despite all the backroom bickering is still super fun to fly

Been following AWG, Juice and his teammates here for a while. Been flying DCS since late fall of 2020. IMO, people forget this is not a game, its a combat simulation. Even though many, myself included b***h and moan from time to time, you have to take a step back, and then move forward. We all spent money on HOTAS, systems, including maps, modules and upgrades. DCS is not for the "faint of heart." The path of moving upwards for ED exponential. We as online flyers, always want the latest and greatest!
