How's it going guys?

Topic for today's video, what are the best ways that I have found to save money for your next adventure. I've traveled through Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Australia by bicycle for 18 months and only needed to work for 4 months of that time. These are the best methods that I used then and still use now to cut down on expenses and save mad cash. Dolla bills yo

1. Sell your car and ride your bicycle. Petrol, insurance, payments, licensing, maintenance and tickets are all huge money suckers. If you can't ride your bike due to weather, take public transport. I will have a series of instructional videos on bike commuting coming out next on the channel.

2. Stop smoking, doing drugs and drinking alcohol. I can't believe how many people tell me, "I can't save money" but then on the weekends they're blowing stacks on stacks on stacks on Newports, PBR and weed. These are pointless substances (unless it's medicinal weed). Start doing meditation, visualization and personal development to fill your time with more beneficial activities.

3. Eat a clean plant-based diet and stop eating out all the time. For this whole time, I've been eating a fruit, vegetable and starch based diet. I eat lots of bananas, dates, potatoes and I used to eat a lot of rice. Meat and dairy products are really expensive when you think about it. I also love to eat at home with friends so I know I'm consuming clean plant-based food and save lots of dollars from eating out at restaurants. I'm coming out with a high-carb plant-based recipe book in a few weeks but right now I have 3 free clean recipes to get you started you can download, link is in the description box below.

4. Ditch your expensive cell phone plan. Sell your phone and contract to someone else and get a pre-paid phone with a basic plan. Most people don't need to spend $70-100 a month on their cell phone. Trust me, you don't need to be on Facebook 24/7. Enjoy the world around you by not staring at your phone every waking moment. I own an iPhone but haven't had any cell service for 4 months. I use WiFi to talk to friends through iMessage or Whatsapp.

5. Downsize and minimize your life. Got an expensive lease, mortage or rent? Think of how you can reduce spending money on where you're living. Can you move in to a smaller place or sell that house that you're barely making enough to get by on the payments. Start selling all the dumb shit you own. If you don't use the stuff you keep in your garage or basement. Get rid of it on craigslist and use that cash towards your next adventure.

6. Use a notebook to track every penny you spend. Do this for 30 days and I guarantee you will be much more aware of your spending habits. The reason you don't have enough money to do the things you want to do is because you are in the HABIT of spending more than you earn. Instill the habit of spending less than you earn so you can easily save money. Spend the $1 at the dollar store for a notebook and track this behavior.

I hope this video helps and remember to subscribe to the AOUL and join the revolution of people who live a badass life.

Thanks so much for watching, we'll talk to ya soon.

Peace out.

#7: Don't have student loans
I don't regret my academic education for a minute; it truly was the right thing for me to do at that point in my life. But I wish I'd worked harder before and during it in order to lower or eliminate the amount of loans I'm now dealing with. Plan ahead, guys!

If you are making a vegan diet book to help people save money, you should include a split pea soup recipe. You can basically feed a family of four for about two dollars.

Love this! Thanks for sharing! Just wanted to add, I use an expense tracker app instead of a notebook. It's easier to update every time you pay for something and it also tells you how much you're spending on what category (eating out, clothing, entertainment, travel, groceries, etc).

You are wise beyond your years. I love both you and Hannah.

I am 69 years old and have pretty much practiced all your points. I would add one other. When you are paid always pay yourself first. Put a set amt each paycheck in your savings as if you are paying your mortgage. Then do not touch it.

The first three points are kinda obvious to me; I changed my cell phone contract a month ago (saves me tons of money). I will declutter my life in the coming months!
I track my expenditures for food since one year and will expand it to all my expenditures. I recommend doing it with Excel in case you know how to do it - more reliable, easier, lots of functionality, more fun (for me) :)

Another tip for saving money is to cut your hair yourself. I bought a hair clipper a two months ago and I'm loving it! I save around € 150 ($ ~200) per year, since I used to go to a quite expensive hair cutter.

That's a great suggestion. Split pea soup with inexpensive vegetables is a great tasty wonderful way to feed your family.

This does help a lot. I cut back on fast food and high expenses and switch to fresh food since it last longer. I do a tutoring job and my pay check literally goes into my saving not checking since it was hard to keep track of the money leaving my pocket.

Save the $1.00 use your calender so you can write everything down. I have found i spend more on certain days. I also have some good data w notes on how I felt and what I bought.

Haha, it drives me nuts when people say, "I don't have/can't save any money! Whinge whinge whinge." and they smoke and go out every weekend buying loads of alcohol.
Might try the notebook idea...but instead of spending $1, I'll use the notebook app on my phone.

There are also a lot of jobs out there that pay for your rent, your gas and insurance, and your food (plus a little extra if you eat cheap).  No expenses = the fastest way to save money.

This comment maybe laugh because I was spending $75 a month to receive maybe 15 phone calls a month. And maybe a little bit of GPS in the car. I switched to a company called Republic wireless that uses your Wi-Fi at home to place calls and take a load off the Sprint network. You can ratchet down your plan to five dollars a month with Republic which I think is awesome. No I don't work for them but I do have their plan. Also they sell the Moto G phone for $150. Not bad! Great phone.

Good advice. I just spent $218 today on car maintenance.. It was so difficult to part with that cash.

I rarely comment on Videos but I have to say this is an excellent excellent video and no your last suggestion about the notebook is not stupid. I thought the comment on drugs alcohol was superior because I actually did that in 1982. I used to put the money in a jar that I would've spent on partying and before I knew it I had a European trip under my belt. Excellent excellent excellent excellent video. That's one young guy I wouldn't mind talking to. Cool. One thing that you didn't mention about phone plans is that you can download a app that you can place phone calls over Wi-Fi on using your android or iPhone. And that includes international locations. If you're in Paris and have access to Wi-Fi you can place phone calls using that app there are several of them. Best of luck to you. Best of all calls are free back to the United States. That's awesome is that? And it's free.
