ESET is what I use. I'm very careful with my browsing so in theory I can get away not using it. I had ESET for 15 years and pretty happy with it.

For me it has been Kaspersky since 2004, I ditched Norton recently because of CRYPTO mining feature and intrusive ads also their detection rate falls during offline connection.

I used McAfee for many years until last year when it became incompatible with a streaming software that I use as it was blocking all the recordings as viruses.
Now I have a new pc with Windows 11 and just use Windows Defender.

Bitdefender family pack, as I can install on multiple computers and devices so I am able to monitor activity for my elderly parents. I can't be there to help them every time they have a question, so this provides some ability to block suspected sites via rules.

I've tried them all and settled for the free Windows Defender that comes with your PC, and a paid utility program called Glary Utilities that runs on it's own. I've not had a single issue in years. The Defender program rates right up there with the paid programs and is always updating so as someone who stays away from sketchy websites it is just fine for me.

You can't turn on all these settings because things like Logitech's drivers causes issues to where you can not turn on Core Isolation which is part of Windows Defender's setting.

Like you say, Brian, you yourself are your PC's best antivirus protection. Running Windows 10 (recently updated to 22H2) I would never trust MS Defender (for numerous and run the free version of Kaspersky's Security Cloud.

Kaspersky's free AV uses the same engine as the premium versions and includes many useful "extras" too - I think it's actually far better than most of the other brands of AV software that you have to pay for. It's also light on your system, has just about no annoying "pop-ups" and a great UI.

Any antivirus that quietly protects you, without bugging you with upsells. Good luck finding one like that.

Well, I’m confused and sort of dismayed by the comments about Symantec Norton, …. I’ve been using this product for over 20+ years and never had any issues with it. To read that there’a Bitmining going on is a shocker. I really have to check this out….and if proven true, I’ve got to make a decision as to who I entrust my computer “life” with. I’ll be watching your channel for much more insights on Trustworthy protection.

I have always used advanced system care ultimate and common sense. I find that ASCU is a lot more than just an antivirus and keeps my computer clean and tidy at all times, this along with the IOBit uninstaller gives me a full package, plus I never pay the full asking price for them. Always sit tight and wait for the offer.
