ISIS or Islamic State of Iraq and Syria is an Islamic Extremist group operating in the middle east. They endorse the idea of a worldwide Caliphate, in which the world is controlled by a single Islamic government.

Where you can find me!

ISIS was formed in 1999 by a man named Abu Bakr al-baghdadi and gained initial attention when it pledged allegiance to Al-Qaeda in 2004, the group responsible for the 9/11 attacks in new York.
Critics and Muslims around the world widely condemned ISIS, with both the UN and EU declaring them a terrorist organisation. In 2011 ISIS joined the conflict in Syria, in an attempt to take control of the country and its surrounding areas. Then, in August 2014, the conflict was vastly expanded when ISIS ventured into Iraq driving government forcing out of key cities, and declaring the country an ‘Islamic State’.

ISIS has also gained plenty of notoriety from the multiple beheadings they have committed against other Iraqis as well as journalists and Humanitarian aid volunteers from the west. People such as James Foley and David Haines, two Americans who were beheaded by ISIS, purely for being in the country. This led to worldwide contempt from countries around the world, with nations such as the USA and UK who then started concentrated bombings in Syria and Iraq, to wipe out ISIS forces. However, this has done to little to prevent the expansion of ISIS, with them now controlling large parts of Syria and Iraq.

ISIS runs a well funded multimillion dollar internet campaign to try and will people to join their cause, as well as to publicize their beheadings and other terrorist activities.
