NOTE: Subsonic and Supersonic are old terms and more commonly refer to speed rather than frequency. In modern use, “infrasonic” refers to frequencies below 20Hz, while “ultrasonic” refers to frequencies above human hearing.

KS3 Science video on sound. Topics covered: transverse and longitudinal waves, wavelength, frequency, pitch and amplitude

Honestly, did so much research and could retain anything. First 20 seconds you had me hooked and understood instantly.

Notes:
Each wave is one pulse
The number of pulses is the same as the frequency, the amount of hertz, if there are 4 pulses then the sound is 4 hertz
The graph is measured in a certain time frame, for example in a one second graph if there were 4 pulses then it would be 4 pulses per second and a frequency of 4 hertz
If we have a longer wavelength then that means we have fewer pulses which means lower frequency and a lower pitch
If we have shorter wave lentgth it means we have more pulses which means higher frequency and higher pitch
Height of the wave tells us the amplitude
Higher amplitude means higher sound and vice versa

I'm sorry... my ADHD is at it again but I started laughing at the, "I don't get it" at the beginning LOL

Good video but I would make the following changes. Waves with a higher frequency than what we can hear are ultrasonic. Waves with a lower frequency than what we can hear are infrasonic. Subsonic and supersonic refer to objects travelling faster and slower than sound.

Brilliant! I ploughed through many videos to finally find this. The others left out far too many steps! Many thanks. Will now pass this on.

I think it would be interesting to see a comparison video of sound and light waves.
