I had a 2012 5 speed auto Challenger RT Classic and to me the transmission was what was holding that car back. I also owned a 6R80 2013 mustang gt and that transmission was much better than the NAG1, in terms of tuning and reliability as well as sport mode set up which my Challenger didn't have. I now own an 8 speed 2017 RT Charger and I'm loving this transmission.

Your 8 speed has me beat in every way... except the AWD option will only work with the 5 speed. Trade off I guess. Some say if you buy a Charger you buy a muscle car and it is supposed to be RWD. Well muscle cars are supposed to be two door too right? It is time for American muscle adopt some change and embrace the AWD more. What about Lamborghini and Porsche? They are using AWD in cars much faster than ours. If only I could have the 8 speed with my AWD...

I don't have a Charger, but I had a 6 speed Camry and upgraded to a newer 8 speed with a similar but updated engine. The newer car is significantly faster and more efficient

Any opinions on the 6 speeds but for the Durango's? I'm curious what was wrong with them.

my 15 R/T doesn't feel like a low 13 sec 1/4 mile car. i would say high 13 at best. motorweek only managed a 14.0 1/4 mile time. i have the base R/T with 2.62 rear gear. i wonder if the road and track option with 3.06 gears? is a huge difference

The 5 speed is fine. I've noticed people having issues with their 8 speed now. Just because something is new, didn't make it more reliable or better.

Does the 8 speed paired with the MDS system improve dramatically in fuel economy?

Anyone else noticed this with the 8 speed? Once it shifts into 2nd gear it won't downshift into 1st even if you floor it and are only going say 15mph. So, you end up with just a 2nd gear pull in that instance.

If your good with your paddles you can still gap 8 speeds on the strip
