Hey everyone, I've been meaning to do this video for a long time! This is my favourite mixture of soil / substrate / potting mix for my cacti and succulents. It's nice and well draining, cheap and easy! Let me know what you think :)

That looks like a great substrate mix! Well explained video, thanks Emma. Would love to see a tour of your cacti and succulents sometime.
I use about 50% Tesco low dust cat litter, 25% coconut coir and 25% chicken grit. The molar clay turns back to its pale pinkish colour when its dried and makes a hissing noise when its dry as you water it, so its a good indicator of when the substrate is dry and works as a nice top dressing 🙂

I just use potting soil and 50% perlite in terra cotta pots, but it can be a little too light so I may try adding sand. I just bought a bag of pumice and while it is more expensive I think it could replace the perlite well and then it won’t all float to the top when watering.

You should try moler clay cat litter. I’ve grown my succulents in it for a few years now x
