Obviously with Shen you just go, d blade, grasp, shield proc rune. And BWAP him lvl 1. Assert dominance, then BWAP him again every level up timers.

You need four builds:
- one if you need to win your matchup
- a plan B variant if you don't win it
- one if you just need to survive lane
- a plan B variant if you win lane somehow

You need two rune pages; one for the first two builds, and one for the second two builds. If your rune pages lack the ability to pivot into plan B, the page sucks. If your itemization options lack the ability to pivot, your item choices suck.

The biggest mistake I see top laners make is that they always go for rune page one and build one, no matter what they should have chosen for that game.

Idk maybe this will keep me stuck diamond but when i look up what matchups use and what challenger or high elo used for my main, warwick, i normally play him jungle but sometimes i just feel like fighting all game so i go top, everyone says to go grasp, but i don't like, or understand how to play him with grasp, so i always go lethal tempo even though everyone screams not to, but that's just how i like and understand how to play him.

thats nice but it requires a pro to play that specific matchup, better to learn what each rune does and try different ones which may seem good in a matchup

Or just reading what runes does and if you are not completely new to the game figuring out what your champion needs and what does your opponent does

It’s probably better to study one tricks than pro players. Pro players don’t always have the most knowledge on champs like one tricks do

You talk about optimal runes, but most players are far from that. Instead I would recommend improving runes that match your playstyle in that particular matchup. Otherwise you end up using the propper runes in the wrong way.

nahh this is so bad adivce just learn for what each runes are good and think yourself adjust for matchup use ur own brain and then compare with others. thats how i climbed gm peak.

True but too many more buttons than just typing "shen opgg" for my lazy ass
