I always heard it was the difference of "believe that" vs "believe in" . Many believe "that" Jesus lived, but not many believe "in" Jesus for salvation. I think I got that right 🤷‍♀️

Agree 100%. People who claim all you need is scripture, need to stop listening to theology based on a verse here and there taken out of context and actually read the entire bible. I would ad that it does have to start with intellectual belief.

The difference ist, in hebrew culture you do and later you learn what you do.
In western culture out of greek we learn it in our mind and later (best case) we practice what we know

On a side note, I have seen some Good Christians try to convince others to believe, only to give up entirely because they felt that believing meant being sinless, so they wrestled with their morality because the guilt they felt was more than they could bear, so it was easier to just give up Christ altogether. Point is suffering is part of the journey, but do not let it become a non stop guilt complex upon yourself, for that is one of the devil's tricks into making you abandoning the Lord.

If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God has risen him from the dead, you will be saved. It is with your mouth. It is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and your mouth you profess your faith and are saved. That is exactly what the word says in context. The word pistes means to have believe, have faith put your trust. The oxford dictionary has the words have faith. So in western culture it means the same thing, just not in your mind. It is you who is deceiving people and causing doubt and distension (wonder whos children do that?), not the church, not the pastor, not the Oxford dictionary, but you.

Yeah it is very terrible ministry to do so, since it does not demonstrate the teachings of Jesus, a minister like that is very likely to create more non believers who will go back to serving self pleasure rather than the Lord
