Calls grow for UK government to give people the second vaccine dose quicker

But new evidence on infections in care homes, where residents have had their jab, has increased concerns over the decision to delay the second dose - and whether this leaves the most vulnerable people without enough protection. 

The latest 24-hour figures say a further 1,280 people have died, bringing the UK total to 94,580.
As of 9am yesterday there have been another 37,892 new cases in the UK and 363,508 people received their first dose of the Covid vaccine, the highest 24-hour figure so far.

I'm a lorry driver from Ireland spending most of my time in England. There does not appear to be any sort of lock down at all happening. When you stop at a services there are hordes of people in them using the seating area eating, the toilets are constantly busy with streams of people non stop. You feel very vulnerable must be said. There is no visible reduction in traffic flows when they say its lock down. Simply put I think its something the government just say, and no one takes any notice. What lock down. Giving one dose resulting in less immunity, will mean half immunised people will catch the virus. As a result, much like how antibiotic resistance occurs, the virus might mutate again in partly immunised people and evolve to circumvent vaccines. That's why it's important to vaccinate with a full dose, achieving a high degree of immunity and herd immunity as soon as possible, .

No point having lockdown rules which you are not going to enforce. I have told off at least 4 people for not wearing a mask in supermarkets and public transport. Supermarkets are not enforcing it. Police are nit busy these days. They could patrol supermarkets etc and issue on the spot fines.

They should follow guidance from the scientists and vaccine manufacturers. I dont understand why government would want to change timescale of second dose. Why potentially make it less effective. But this government does everything opposite of scientists.

If u give the second jab now u will slow down the process of giving out the first jab. Meaning there will be more people with no immunity at all
