Of what I've read and heard, they didn't discover matter with negative mass. Only normal matter that kind of behaves as IF it had negative mass.

Wouldn't that mean that on earth it would simply "fly" away because gravity is accelerating it downwards but due to it's negative mass it accelerates upwards?

It's unlikely that the discovered superfluid dynamics would help with warp drives. However, you don't really need negative mass to create a warp drive. Gravitational potential is a bit like electricity, if you have 0, +5 and +10 volts, you can call +5 ground and then you have -5, 0 and +5 voltages. It's called relativity for a reason. The trick is to create an asymmetric "bubble" with higher than ambient gravity on one side and lower than ambient gravity on the other. Theoretically, this can be done by moving mass or energy around to create a standing wave. Say, discharging one set of supercapacitors into another, back and forth, over a long cable stretched between them. The trick is doing it in a way that produces a standing wave with the required "shape" and dynamics. I believe that's a reasonable (if over-simplified) description of one of Harold White's proposed modifications to the basic Alcubierre drive concept.

But wait a minute, the gravity of a particle with positive mass would pull the negative mass particle in it's direction, but applying F=ma, wouldn't the negative mass particle also be repelled by positive gravity?

Weird! The negative mass gets negative kinetic energy (decreasing towards minus infinity) that cancels out the positive kinetic energy (increasing towards plus infinity) of the positive mass, so the total kinetic energy is always zero during the runaway acceleration! Right?

Read carefully next time.It isn t negative mass but negative effective mass.It behaves like it has negative mass but it doesn t have negative mass.And interaction and entropy cant be negative.Every massless particle like photon has constant speed c or km/s.Particle with negative mass creates a paradox of going faster than light.

They didnt create negative mass, vthey created nevative EFFECTIVE mass, which is still positive mass, but behaves as negative mass but only on particle scale e.g. quantum physics.

I think maybe the black hole is the materials we look for with a negative mass composition that acts as a charged static field of energy while pulling all the present and repelling with its gravity..
