I have a love-hate relationship with this guy. Great character, I love the guy, but he caused me so much suffering whenever I hear any of his themes I become violent

Fun Fact: recently speedrunners found a way to skip the cutscene where you first meet Axis, however if you do so then the game never properly stops the song meaning it will play for the entire rest of the playthrough on top of whatever song is normally playing

Yes it is as painful for your ears as you would expect

You can always count on UTDR and related media to always have consistently good robot characters

was very pleasantly surprised by axis' character! far from being a mettaton clone, his scenes had a unique sense of humor to them, and the genocide route did a surprisingly good job humanizing him and making me love him even more. 10/10 character

I love this guy. He breaks the fourth wall so much. He’s so traumatised. Has the best theme in the game. Has so much lore. Is hilarious. Has a personality and deep complexes. 10/10.

I LOVE this theme. It makes me smile whenever I hear it. Like Queen’s theme from Deltarune. You know some funny shit is about to happen

I am commenting on every single song of the Undertale Yellow Soundtrack playlist! (Read this knowing I discovered, explored and played Deltarune (in 2021) before Undertale (in 2022), which to the current day of this comment I have only watched the entirety of, but not actually played. Hence why I assume that I like Deltarune more than Undertale, because it was personal and... new, in a way, but can still feel what I would call a "fake" nostalgia from Undertale despite that).
I played Undertale Yellow one time. My playthrough went across from 10/12/2023 to 26/12/2023, during a total of 15-16 days. I played it, aimed for the best, and got True Pacifist. When I finish it, I tell Flowey to wait. And get off the computer for the day. Some days pass by, and I finally start watching a True Pacifist route on YT. Some days pass by again, and I gain the courage to watch the not-so-dark path, and then the truly dark path. Some time passes once again, and I finally watch the end offered by Flawed Pacifist.

Seems like triggering the power of The Steamworks had more implications than what our heroes thought. There had to be someone to guard and protect the facility. And do you know who's the one to guard and protect? None other THAN...

"AXIS MODEL 014 READY TO GUARD AND PROTECT"

So, I have good news and bad news. The good news is: AXIS IS FINALLYYY HERE TOOK HIM LONG ENOUGH GOD DAMNIT!!!
The bad news is: Mo may or may not have found his true opponent in competing for 1st place for my favourite Undertale Yellow character ;)

This song has to gain an award. Why? It's literally both the shortest and funkiest song I've ever heard!
At the beginning, you can only hear the overwhelming mechanical sounds while a slight rhythm is slowly being brought up. This is quickly subverted though, seeing that in 0:07 the drums roundhouse kick the door open, with even more comically well-put together sequences of artificial instruments (which I wouldn't be surprised if those could actually be coming from a possible music box on Axis' chest XD). How all of these samples being put together can sound so dope? I'm still trying to figure it out too! When I had UTY in my own hands, I am almost sure I stopped ignoring the fact that a very problematic showed up right in my face and started freakishly dancing to this! Seriously, it's unreal to me how the drop at 0:07 literally needs almost no build-up to make the track work so perfectly, those drums are just otherworldly on a level I can't describe! It doesn't even seem like a proper song at the start, so I guess it makes it the more unexpected to hear that beat drop after what just seemed like a bunch of wiry and mechanical noises (which I now notice could be a way of showing Axis booting up. Guess the beginning makes a bit more sense, he was just heating up to proceed to light the speakers on fire!).
I really wanted to try to be more descriptive of the song itself, but it's kinda hard when the song in question just appears to be a mess of machinery sounds that somehow compose a bop! XD
Strangely, I still keep that impression of Axis' motif sounding like a brave hero's jingle. While I would say it seems forced that Axis out of everyone is the one to have such characteristic, it kinda... works? You see, after the early beat drop, the tune seems to direct you to think that you are face to face with a strong, menacing and reckless opponent, but it doesn't really communicate that he is either good or bad (even though he seems like he will probably thrash you in most cases). Then at 0:24, the description drives away from that thought with these triumphant trumpets, which point normally to royal figures. This same instrument actually lingers on for some good seconds; it doesn't seem to fit Axis that much at first glance, since "gracious" probably wouldn't be the word Ceroba and Clover would use to describe him in that first encounter... Still, Axis' duty is to guard and protect the Steamworks, so I suppose you can assume him to be a bit of a "hero". He certainly is A guard. A royal guard? Not so much.
While it's good that the theme is short, which means you can quickly come back to that sweet beat drop, the short duration makes it jarring to listen to on repeat because after some time the song can get a bit annoying. Also feels a bit awkward to say "I'm in the mood to listen to "Enter Axis"" and then it's just 44 seconds of song (it happened a lot to me, at least). My only critique would be that one. Aside from that, it's up there in the "Best Character Themes" category, along with... pretty much every other one. It's hard to say it's the best of the best when the competition is basically "Mo Money", "Birds of a Feather", "Kanako", ... (Not "North Star" though XD)

I'm sorry to say it but... nah no I'm not. METTATON HAS NOTHIN' ON MA BOY AXIS AND I DONT ACCEPT ANY COUNTER ARGUMENTS UNDERSTOOD !??!?!??!!!
I like Mettaton, don't get me wrong, but Axis being the superior robot is just FACTUAL to me! Aside from that, Axis and Mo have to share the Top 1 place for my favourite UTY character, no questions asked. I went different ways in learning to adore these guys, though. With Mo, it was as straightforward as love at first sight. Man is eccentric and has an unmatched charisma, period. From the first moment I heard "Mo Money" on those December days, I already knew he was gonna be hard to top. Then... Axis came in. He didn't properly get to me on the first moments, far from it actually. I only learned how and why I liked Axis MOSTLY after my... personal UTY "voyage". He was the only one who I started apreciating a bit in the beginning, and then the more time went on, I would found new things and resons and just be like "jeez this guy's awsome". It will be difficult to describe how I went up in this ladder of Axis enjoyment, so I'll stick to whatever comes to mind. I feel there will be specific occasions where some of those "reasons" are gonna be the main point of to discuss....
Let's begin with an obvious feature: HE THINKS HIGHLY OF HIMSELF BUT MANY TIMES HE IS JUST DUMB IN THE PROCESS. Axis is basically a jokester clearly not intending to be one, that's one of his main strengths. That's not surprising when you see that Axis and Ceroba's interactions are hilarious bits! From him not understanding any non-literal expression and making every scene with him basically unpredictably funny, to Axis himself being very unpredictable sometimes, both through his dialogue and his many ambushes! Other tiny detail that is actually related to this very piece is the way it comically starts playing whenever Axis gets on sight XD. It has to be made purely for comedic sake, cause' it works so well! At some point, you just start seeing this track not much as a danger/dancer indicator, but as like "oh god here we again", whether you say it worried, laughing, or laughing in worry (my case hehe). Just had this thought: all of the encounters with Axis make him look like a cartoon archvillain, always plotting a new genius and masterful plan to capture his own archenemies, and by consequence, making "Enter Axis" look like his signature tune for whenever he gets on scene! (the comparisons between Axis and Dr. Doofenshmirtz wen't get out of my head for a while now...XD).
"Enter Axis" seemed like an authoritarian manner to introduce the security robot. It now gained a lot more of a literal meaning when the music starts blasting your ears whenever the guy appears for a single milisecond. Very faithful name, I see. Still, the comedic value this gives to any Axis-fied scenario hits that spot on my debatable sense of humour! The awkward scenario that sometimes is established when Axis finds Ceroba and Clover trying to escape, and then Ceroba has to cover it up, Axis patiently listening to what Ceroba has to say, Clover staring into their personal deep mental void, something that would look and sound hella cringe but actually makes you laugh! Another aspect that contributes to that, his lack of dialogue portraits. For one, it makes genuine sense, the dude is a robot, he doesn't have emotions so he can't express them. On the other hand, despite the common idea of machines being non-sentimental, it's even funnier (and kinda tragic and sad, if you think a bit further about it) when he tries to express how he feels... when he ONLY talks in capital letters and has a SINGLE facial expression! So you just imagine someone threatening your life while they are literally speaking in the same indifferent and boring voice tone and have the most neutral expression you can think of (I can't be the only one who finds that scenario hilarious, right?)!

I freaking love this character.
I personally love deadpan humor, so Axis being the definition of deadpan humor is already winning some of my points.
Not only that, his dialogue is absolutely perfect for quoting.
“ROBOTS CANNOT CRY. I HAVE TRIED.” - Axis Model 014
Truly the best character in the game.
This is my opinion and I will not let anyone else change it for me. >:D

Kanako: It could be called Axis!
Chujin: Yeah! That sounds like a great name!
Ceroba: MAYBE NOT?!
