✅ Surfshark has been creating quite a buzz on the VPN scene over the past few years, giving some industry veterans a run for their money. Let's see how this provider stacks up in my Surfshark review. Hello everyone. Today I have an updated review on surf shark, a VPN that's been putting in the effort in order to keep up with big names like Express and Nord VPN. After this video, you should have a better idea of what surf shark offers, where it shines and what it lacks. And if at any point you want to check out pricing or special discounts, you'll find links to everything you need in the description below. First of all, let's take a look at what surf shark does and does not log by examining their privacy policy. They do state that they collect diagnostics information, aggregated performance data and other relevant information. They also do explain in their privacy policy page, how some information may include which pages visitors visit, and how long visitors may stay on a particular page. Now, I wouldn't really call this a strict no logs policy. But to be fair, they've never been breached, and no user information has ever been leaked. So they do have quite a clean track record to back their claims up. And they've had one independent audit back in November 2018. audit firm cure 53 tests to surf sharks browser extensions, and concluded that the tested applications made for a good impression. And the tool vulnerabilities that were found were rated with low severity. Surf shark also says that they have addressed the issues after the audit, I can only wonder why they didn't have a full on audit over their entire application in order to find any other potentially severe weaknesses in their network, or small weaknesses for that matter. Not to mention that they've never had another audit after that one, so we can only take their word for it when it comes to the issues that they claimed to fix after their last audit. If surf shark intends to keep up with other big providers like Express and Nord, both of which are having frequent audits to always stay on top of their security game, they need to do more audits for sure, unless they have a reason not to, in which case, I would also have a reason to not really trust their privacy policy. Now speed wise, this is one surf shark is actually doing quite a bit well. And you'll see what I mean from the results I'm about to show though keep in mind that speed tests will vary depending on your connection speed internet service provider and the servers you're connecting to. And generally speaking, any decrease in speed between 10 and 20% is considered very good and anything between 20 and 40% is still quite acceptable, especially if your base speed is very quick. So my base speed is all right in the speed test. It's at 12 point 38 megabits per second, I've tried all of the available protocols on the same French server since I usually get good speeds with France and I got a 5.3% decrease at 11 point 72 megabits per second on the wireguard protocol and a 6.6% drop at 11 point 56 megabits per second on the open VPN UDP and a predictable 62.5% decrease at four point 64 megabits per second on the open VPN TCP. As such drops are common on the TCP protocol in all VPNs which is why it's rarely used a 37.9% drop on the shadow Sox protocol at seven point 69 megabits per second. I got impressive... Ran out of the 5k characters limit, sorry guys.
