It took me forever to realize that they’re falling out of the sky in the beginning because they’re leaving Skypiea. It’s the perfect way to transition from the previous arc (Skypiea) into the next one (Long Ring/Water 7)

this is my first introduction to one piece. i watched this op song, back when i was a kid when it aired in my country and snippets of the water 7 arc.
I've started watching one piece after the live action and now i know why it's one of the best animes of all time.
Now, I've finally reached water 7 arc and it's more amazing compared to what i remembered.

man… this opening made me misty-eyed dude… :’( i remember watching through this intro - before almost each episode - and seeing it differently as things began to crumble. (SPOILERS FOR W7 ENIES LOBBY!)



unbeknownst to me, many characters in the intro turn to be insane villains. betrayal and heartbreak pass through the characters in several ways (that i did NOT expect following such a light, shimmering intro). what i thought to be a playful scene… usopp firing the impact dial on luffy… turned out to be a heart-wrenching, heavy fight scene. i mean, pain swallowed my mind whole watching the crew falling apart like this. i’ll never forget that moment of realization. AND THEN ROBIN?? don’t even get me started- her backstory, the way she was treated by that imbecile spanda, the declaration of war, the battles, the victory. merry.

oda’s way of storytelling is god-tier. i don’t know how he does it, but dang do i love it.
