I heard someone describe Iran as "Hold me back bro! Hold me back!" In the form of a country.

My understanding is that Iran intends to fight Israel to the last Palestinian, Lebanese, Syrian and Yemenite

You attack when you want to attack. Not when your enemy wants you to attack

I flew from Qatar to the US. Last night and out flight was diverted across Saudi airspace to Egypt to avoid getting in between Iran and Israel.

Simon makes the same mistake a lot of non-military people make when discussing capabilities. Just because Iran or Hezballoh have 100k rockets and missiles doesn’t mean they have that many launchers. They don’t have the capacity to launch everything they at once. Especially the ballistic missiles. Iran uses mobile erectors for their ballistic weapons. They have a limited number of those.

There is an irony in Iran's relationship with its proxies: Hamas hoped the other proxies and Iran itself to join since October 7, and it's Sinwar's greatest dream that the conflict becomes regional with Iran and Hezbollah fully involved. It seems like Iran (president & politicians, not IRGC) wants an off-ramp, which could come in the form of a ceasefire in Gaza, but if Hamas knows that a failure in the peace talks would lead to an Iranian attack, it has no reason to reach an agreement. Iran has used its proxies like suicide attack drones (the joke being that Iran will fight Israel to the last Arab), however now the proxies themselves are putting it in a risky situation, where it itself could launch an attack that may be suicidal.
The video is excellent as always, but it ignores the Israeli retaliation and the part it plays in Iran's calculations. Any damage that Iran can cause Israel is significantly smaller than what Israel could do in return (see Hodeida attack in Yemen, at a greater range than Tehran) - This is the major reason for Iran not to attack, and it's surprising that this wasn't brought up in the video.

If your writer felt the confidence to add “Iranian warplanes” to the possible tools of aggression against Israel, then he clearly needs to do some more research.

F14s are now 40+ years old and have not been well maintained given lack of parts. They'll be no match for modern Western aircraft.

If they attack, they are embarrassed (again) and look weak to their people. If they don’t attack, they look weak to it’s people and can keep those weapons.

Before 1979, Pahlavi Iran (under The Shah) was Israel's closest ally in the Middle East and their mutual enemy were the Arab countries.

Today however, Arab countries such as Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan are allying with Israel against Iran.

How on earth can you describe Haniyeh only as an “Iranian guest” and not mention that he was the leader of Hamas?

Didn't bother mentioning what an israeli retaliation would look like. Iran has no air defenses capable of limiting israel's response. Iran would be devastated.

Iran would be stupid to start a war considering a lot of countries are waiting to contribute whatever to bring down the Ayatollah

If Iran engages Israel directly, then the Iranian leadership becomes a legitimate target. It may be the long awaited opportunity to bring the conflict to an end, and to free the Iranian people from the theocracy. The Iranian leadership isn't exactly loved by the Iranian people.

They’ve literally been saying they’re going to attack Israel since like 1979, so I don’t know if I actually buy this

The Israeli retaliation in case of an Iranian attack, taking into account that the majority of the Iranian people hate the Islamic Revolution Regime, could be a very dangerous situation for the weak Ayatollah regime, which is in the final stages of a race for nuclear bombs.
