Harbor Freight Doyle Electricians Insulated Screwdriver Set Review

Doyle 64861, these are okay screwdrivers but in my opinion are not very competitively priced because one of the screwdrivers is a weird #1 ECX driver which are just a waste of money. I also think there are units that are better visibility and better ergonomics for easily the same amount or even less money . .

That ecx is no waste of money, it's a electricians tool, for breakers receptacles ect it's the way to go. You can apply PLENTY of torque without slippage. A good tight connection is important to keep the wires and connections from getting hot and causing a fire

It fits the screws on receptacles exactly. They have a #1 Robertson rotated 45 degrees from the screws your looking at.

I like the ecx bit because they won't cam out. If you use a flat or phillips on that type of screw they are likely to cam out with the slightest diviation of angle. Imo square/robertson or that ecx bit is the only way to go when working in a live breaker panel. The last thing you want is slippage around other live wires. Just my opinion

It's called an ECX screwdriver I bought the Milwaukee 11 n 1 because it had em, great bit if your an electrician. Most breakers use these type of fasteners also

Have you ever checked out the Pittsburg, 7 piece insulated set? O purchased a set a couple of years ago. They seem to be of decent quality.

There are two ECX sizes #1 and #2. Obviously the #1 will be loose in a #2 ECX screw - not a design failure. It appears that Harbor Freight copied the bits in Milwaukee's 3 piece insulated screwdriver set. ECX screws are very common in US electrical work. Agree that for non electrical work, the ECX bit would be an odd one to include.

That ecx screwdriver is made for recepticals and light switches

The ECX drivers are awesome for electricians, in fact, they are the preferred tool, the screws are designed to use ECX drivers, not Roberts, straight, or Philips.

Thanks for the video! I've been wanting to get these. What's interesting is on the HF website the matching set of Doyle screwdrivers are supposed to have wire looping holes. My set does not. Are there wire loopers on these or on your your matching heavy duty set?

the gm power torque screw driver base on german brand you mentioned fails to list a link to buy these screw drivers it would help to list any links for products you mentioned.

Man you know your screwdrivers. What's your thoughts on the new SK screwdrivers with the green handles?

Thanks for the video, great as always! I’m a fan of the ECX bit and might give this a try.

Just grabbed the Pittsburgh variants. No word on how the guys like them. Love the composite ratchets for working around powered stuff though.

It was great to finally see Tiny in your video as i am sure we have all been wanted to see. Power Torque tools for anyone interested are available at O Riley's auto parts.Love the demos hope to see more of Tiny if possible thanks

From what I understand the #1 Robertson tip in the combination is the best for switc and receptacles. From what you showed with the romex clamp it looks like a #2 cfombination would work.

This is a copy of the Milwaukee 3-piece set, which you can get for 20 bucks at Big Orange. I'm going to pick up the Doyle set and save about 8 bucks. I actually want one of these sets mainly for the ECX driver. Otherwise there are a bunch of 5 - 8 piece insulated sets you can get for 10 to 35 bucks, but they only come with the flats and phillips.
