How Do Animals Sound in Different Languages?

If we travel around the world we can hear dogs, cats, pigs, pigeons, cows, pigs, and all animals making basically the same sounds everywhere you go. But if you ask a person in Japan to tell you how does the pig sound? how does a cat sound? how does a dog sound in your language?, their answer will be very different than the answer form someone who speaks Spanish, Latvian, Portuguese, Korean, Italian french or English.

When I realized this, I started to film people in every country answering to these questions about how these animals sound in your country, or in your language, and in this video, I put it all together.

Thank you to everyone who was part of these video (:
And let me know in the comments, how do these animals sound in your language!

Alan

It's surprising how similar animals speak in foreign languages. Animals in the USA can sound different depending on the regional accents. When I lived in NYC I once herd a pigeon coo with a very pronounced Brooklyn accent.

We Filipinos tell that a 🐈 sounds like "Meow, meow!" It is because the Philippines is a former Spanish colony for 333 years.

I'm hungarian 🇭🇺 my language is in the Top 10 hardest languages list!!! We have many nicknames/slang for dogs, cats, pigs and baby chicks, but I don't want to list them all, plus you wouldn't understand them anyway... 😂
Here is my animal sound list:
1: Kakas (rooster) = kukurikú
2: Kutya (dog) = vau vau
3: Malac/disznó/sertés (pig) = röf röf
4: Macska (cat) = miáú
5: Csibe/kiscsibe (kis = little/small) (baby chick) = csip csip csip
6: Kopogás (knocking/knock) = kop kop

There are 4, 500 onomatopoeias in Japanese, and it would take me three days to say them all. I can say three more just by recalling the sound of a knock on the door. There are at least two more cat meows, too: me_me and nyan-nyan.

Pio is the sound of a chick in Spanish. There's a good restaurant in NJ called Pio Pio.

Bark, bork or woof for dog, meow for cat or purr-meow, oink oink for pigs, cheep cheep for chicks and Knock knock for the door. I looked up this video cause I was curious if they would be spelled differently in other languages too. XD.
Edit oh I forgot the rooster.. I dunno how to spell the rooster sound but the chickens go back bawk bawk. Lol
