When you are in the waters of Australia, be on the lookout for both moving and motionless creatures. The dangerous stonefish lays motionless in the shallow waters of Northern Australia. The animals are fatal to step on, but one might never see them.
For example, an Australian man was in Fiji on holiday in 2013 when he trod on a stonefish in the shallow waters. The 51-year-old was taken through a week of intensive care before he was allowed to travel back to Sydney. He spent two more weeks there before the swollen leg returned to normal.
