Accused Murderer Seen Coloring in Court

It's not seen everyday in court, an accused murderer coloring in the courtroom. That was the case for an 11-year-old boy who allegedly killed his mother because she would not buy him a VR headset. He's being tried as an adult and could get life in prison.

Hate to victim blame, but why did he have access to a gun? Not only was he able to shoot others, he might've shot himself too, so this is child endangerment as well.

Either change the age range for trying a child as an adult or try children as children and transfer him to a psychiatric facility if he qualifies at age 18. He obviously is a young child who desperately needs help. Prayers to the family of his mother - what a disaster. 💔

Hard to treat a child the same as an adult. I have an 11 year old son and cannot fathom him acting this way but he also doesn’t have easy access to a freakin gun.
Failure all around this child needs serious help not jail for life.

For me there is a simple issue with trying a 10-11 year old as an adult. Basic science. The brain isn't developed in the emotional processing regions.

it's actually common though, for kids in the criminal justice process (whether victim, witness, or perpetrator) to be given some activity to do to occupy them through the long process. Usually something like this, a coloring book or toys.

At 10 years old, he shot his mom, lied about it and then purchased a headset from Amazon. Imagine what he's going to be like when he's an adult. He needs to be in prison for life. I certainly wouldn't want him anywhere near me.
