Once you get past the novelty of that Bjork bassline, it's obvious why they never released this version. It's clearly a work in progress and the bass doesn't actually work for the song at all.

Radiohead definitely spent much of their career suppressing their power level because they wanted to try out different sounds. Original versions of songs like this could’ve easily become incredibly famous and successful hits if they kept making albums like The Bends and refining this style.
