Molly Haskell, author and widely regarded critic of film and theater (The Village Voice, New York Magazine and Vogue among others), spoke at New York Kinokuniya Bookstore on February 11, 2017 about her newly released biography on Steven Spielberg, ‘Steven Spielberg: A Life in Films’. Haskell’s biography is a critical take on Spielberg’s work (and clearly not all-inclusive as he is still working) with clear admiration for his great ability as a filmmaker but with some reservation on how he is regarded by some fans as the penultimate icon of film and video production and perhaps missing what, in her view, is his true artistic contribution.
