Checking Out : 1178 by Pulsar Audio

If you've mixed in the box with analog emulations of hardware units, you must have come accross, at some point, the emulation of an 1176 compressor or other FET compressor. While there isn't much to be added to the 1176 emulations already available out there, more could maybe be said about its close relative and much less emulated 1178.

What do you mean by "sound effect" compressor you say at the end

wow! so interesting! i preferred WITHOUT compression on acoustic and electric guitars! the compresor really takes away all the bite and attack of the instruments...yes, i guess it sounds "warmer"...but duller. especially the acoustic guitar! it has a gorgeous sound on its own, without the compressor! also the mix buss sounds nicer without the compressor... way more alive, more peaks, valleys, DYNAMICS...that's the beauty is lost when you apply the compressor...bass did sound better with the compressor...to tame it a bit and give it more presence and roundness.
oh well...
