Yes, only more... Why not just go explain exactly what you saw, the two guards abusing their rank and generally acting like bullying thugs and then watch the fireworks.

Princess Celestia: Ah, Private Goldbrick, Private Yellowbelly, just the ponies I wanted to see.

Goldbrick and Yellowbelly (bowing obsequeously): It is an honour to serve.

Celestia (smiling); I'm glad to hear it. How are the new cadets coming along?

Goldbrick: Uh, fine your Highness...

Goldbrick (starting to look worried): Uh, I'm not sure what you mean.

Yellowbelly: Ohhh! Uh, yes of course, he's been consistently late, sloppily dressed, and insolent! We just didn't think it worth bringing to your Higness's attention. Don't worry, we'll set him right.

Celestia (horn glowing): Of course, and you'll have logged it all in the company records... (A bound book appears in front of her, and she leafs through it.)... My goodness, I don't see any such records. What I do see is that the two of you were on fatigue duty for what was it? Improper dress and repeated tardiness.

Both ponies start to sweat under her level gaze and Yellowbelly caves first: Uh we can explain!

Celestia: Indeed? And can you explain why you tripped Cadet Shining Armour and then confined him to barracks for breaking the plates?

Goldbrick: How could you...

Celestia (leans forward off her throne until her muzzle practically touches his): Princess. Do you think anything under the sun escapes me?

Celestia (sits back, fixing them both with a stern gaze): The Royal Guard are not conscripts, they are volunteers, each of whom is willingly is held to the highest standards of duty and honour. Shining Armour is a shining example of that sort of pony. I have made it my personal business to find out about him, as he could potentially become my nephew. The two of you on the other hoof... Your latest scheme is your last. Consider yourselves under arrest. We will see whether you should be puinished or simply dishonourably discharged later.

The two guardsponies slump, and drag themselves away towards the entrance.

Celestia: Oh, and Goldbrick? You are most definietely not my niece's type.
