🔺Free Masterclass: 3 Secrets to Master Gel Nails

Let’s talk about Full coverage tips.

Is there a difference between soft gel tips and plastic tips?

Yes, there is… BUT is that difference significant to actually make a difference in our application of them unto the natural nails.

In today’s video I will be giving you 5 ways soft gel and ABS plastic full coverage tips are different.

If you would like to see a written version of this topic, read the blog here:

I use plastic full coverage tips, and my current favorite system is the Gelip Full Coverage Tip System from Japanese Gel Nail Company, Kokoist

My second favorite full coverage system is from Korean Brand F Gel distributed by Zillabeau,

Not trying to be controversial but I’ve tried both and found virtually no difference other than HOW they soak off. The gels soak off like how gel normally would (as expected) and the plastic tips almost completely changes the consistency of the acetone. In my opinion, the soft gels are a lot faster, easier, cleaner, and even more comfortably to soak off than plastic tips. Also, the plastic tips immediately start to dissolve when acetone touches it, whereas the soft gel tips have to be sitting and soaking in it for awhile.
In terms of your differences, I think (1) they both can be applied the same way. (2) I HAVE to use a dehydrator/primer for everything, regular nail lacquer included so I’m not sure if this applies to everyone. So I cannot apply any kind of nail enhancement alone or else I want them to pop off quickly. (3) I think they both should be completely soaked off for removal if you adhere them with gel. (4) I have plastic tips in both natural and sculpted in various lengths and shapes that are identical to brand name soft gel tips. (5) I’ve also seen soft gel tips that are pre-etched, but tbh, I NEVER pre-etch my tips and never have issues with lifting 😉🤫
But in general, not trying to be a hater or a debater, just wanted to share my 2 years of experience with full cover tips. 🤗
Love and appreciate your videos Paola!!!

A month ago I heard about poly gel and I got excited about having beautiful nails again without the damage I got for the 10 years that I was dedicated to my nails. I tried the poly gel and dual forms but it was hit and miss. While watching content about nails I saw videos about full coverage soft gel tips and thought this might be a better way for me to go. And it is. I realize that there's a learning curve to everything. Also I've learned that the quality of your products is everything! I purchased a nail drill and I knew with my first use that I will have to get a better drill. I'm looking at a drill from the brand "MelodySusie". Drill bits are important. I will be getting the best drill bits I can afford going forward. I could go on forever as my nails are my new obsession. I'm happy to see that you are still posting content so I will definitely be watching 💜

Xtens has the patent on full cover tip systems and they were actually the very first to come out with them, not Apres. Which is interesting cuz Apres took all the limelight and everyone calls their dupes a "Gel X" dupe, when technically Gel X is an "Xtens dupe" lol. Apres became more popular so therefore people assumed they were the innovators, which makes me sad for Xtens. But on their site they do mention that they werent worried about rushing their marketing just to say they were the first, and they do show their patent. But ya, just thought I'd share that since I literally just learned this and was also someone who thought Apres invented these systems. We gotta give credit where credit is due! lol. Thanks for sharing! This was a super cool vid. Love your videos.

Hi I use a soak off system and I’m able to fill them and i can blend the cuticle area for a flush natural look. I use a dehydrator and non acid primer in their system, but I thought it was for adhesion of the base gel before adding the full coverage tips. I’ve had excellent results and long term wear.

Both tips are made of the same plastic. A chemist did test multiples and they are both made from pvs plastic the only difference is that one tip is applied with base gel and the other is applied with resin (glue). The companies are just trying to trick people with marketing.

Great video! Question #1 Will hard gel stick to plastic full cover tips? Using it underneath on free edge? #2 What are you using to attach the plastic nail to the natural nail? Can i use hard gel for that? Basically wondering if I can do the lazy girl method with plastic tips?

So just to confirm, if I wanted to experiment on myself at home, my tips don't have to be a specific "soft gel" tips, and I can use tips listed as ABS plastic, and apply the same way, with the same extend gel as I would when using a soft gel system?

Awesome video. I have a question. I use to go to the salon to get my nails done. Moved to the boonies, literally and I really miss my pretty nails so I want to learn to do them myself. Is it possibly to pre-paint the softer nails and then apply them? I suck at painting my own nails. Most glues used with the softer ones that are all over Amazon say to use a UV light? But you can get the little stands to paint them before applying…. Is that an option to use another glue since I’m thinking once painted that uv glue won’t work. I haven’t ordered anything yet, but I hope to soon. Thanks for the help!!!
