Fall is here. Winter is not too far away. In this vid, I do a quick run down of some of my favorite fall and transitional cycling clothing.

A very timely video for me to watch, as here in Poland we’ve just had a sudden change of weather; it feels like autumn has arrived with a bang and stomped all over summer.

Last week I did my first ever bike-packing/touring trip (682 km/424 miles in four days from Warsaw to just over the Lithuanian border and back, fully loaded with camping gear, etc.) and it was sunshine and heat all the way, with temps pushing 28-30°C (84°F) every day once the morning chill had burned away. I had to keep stopping to take layers off to stop from over-heating, twice I was practically naked in bus-stops by the side of busy roads changing from warmer bib longs to thinner bib shorts (I even had to change to thinner socks at one point!). It was lovely. Since I've got home the sun has disappeared, it’s rained every day and the temperatures have been down to around 12°C (53°F), with the wind making it feel waaay colder. Summer is dead.

I agree with Russ about buffs, an absolute essential, I think I’ll be wearing one of mine from now until about next April!

Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. Ideal time for the algorithm to pop this up in my feed.

Just started using a buff and can't believe how much warmth it provides, often saves wearing an extra top layer and dead easy to remove and stow whilst riding.

Great video. I just moved to an area with real winters, and this video was helpful since we are of similar builds. Keep up the great work.

Yes, I need more videos of winter/cold clothing. I'm new to the bike scene and do not want to 🥶!

Thanks for the rundown, good stuff. One point: You DO need to worry about getting that down gilet wet. Wet down has zero insulating properties. Love the channel!

IMBA jacket pockets are mesh for improved air movement when vents are open.

I like that Giro vest- the color (for visibility) as well the pocket (I think it's called stowaway pocket) were you can put it in! 👍

Love this video. I hadn't considered riding with a buff, but can now see how practical they are. Will have to give it a try this winter. I wish the bicycle clothing manufacturers made more vests with 2-way zips allowing to keep the chest warm, while unzipping/venting from the bottom. I found a convertible jacket (removable sleeves)/vest by Louis Garneau that does just that.

For winter: Most impotrant to cover the hands, the feet and the ears. And this is a not an easy quest - to find a good pair of gloves for winter... In really cold temps (for me, it is below -15C, but I have a beard!) it is a good idea to protect the neck AND the face with some kind of balaklava-style buff. For body all simple - many layers inside (not too much), merino is great, windproof outer. And essential - to take some dry warm spare clothes, at least in countryside.

For people living in real autumn *cough canada*. I suggest Castelli Alpha ROS. For rain coat Arteryx Alpha and the hoody is very good with bike helmet. For shoes use overshoes with waterproof something with goretex.

great video, one thing I would've liked is just a quick list with text of all the things you were going to review.

Showers Pass is worth every penny. Clearly made by people who actually use the gear.

You should check out 45Nrth. They make amazing deep winter gear (that’s Minnesota winter, not for what passes for winter in California where I live). There’s a tall mountain in my area where it snows during the winter months an their wool tights are more than enough to keep me comfortable in 25F weather (especially during the long descent where wind chill comes into play.)

Helpful video. Thankyou. I'd love to see you review an MTB shoe cover that fits larger sized feet. I'm currently running XXL Endura's and they are a very snug fit over my size 13's, to the extent that they cut off circulation.

Heading in to summer here thankfully but feeling for you northern hemispherians. I used a buff thru winter and loved the versatility but the one I have is too tight when worn like a headband. Is there a summer version?
